The Chef’s Press is the ultimate cooking weight for more efficient cooking. Here are just a few reasons we love this stainless steel Chef’s Press:

Which size Chef's Press should I choose?

  • Use the 8oz press to put weight on delicate ingredients such as sliced aubergine and skin-on salmon, or for the crispiest bacon you've ever had, cooked perfectly even. You can also layer presses on top of each other when cooking grilled cheese sandwiches and pork cutlets.
  • The 13oz press is great for thicker cuts of steak, or cauliflower steak. Stack presses on top of each other to really press down on the food.
  • The 18oz is also great for thick cuts of steak or to help weigh down bigger pieces of meat when marinating or brining.

All the sizes can stack on top of each other, or be staggered to cover a larger surface area to evenly press down food. You can also link them together to keep your vacuum sealed food under water when cooking sous vide.

The measurements for each weight are as follows:

  • 8oz - Measuring 116mm x 132mm with a handle height of 27mm.
  • 13oz - Measuring 116mm x 132mm with a handle height of 31mm.
  • 18oz - Measuring 127mm x 165mm with a handle height of 31mm.

Why is this Chef’s Press unique?

The Chef’s Press was created by Chef Bruce Hill while he was working in a tiny kitchen of Bix Restaurant in San Francisco. The traditional cast iron weights were too heavy for many dishes and also trapped steam.

Hill created a weight adjustable tool that lets food cook 20-30% faster and is vented to release moisture. This one handy tool offers better results with greater ease. Each Chef’s Press is made from USA forged steel and each press is inspected by Chef Hill before being sold.
